Today in the United States, the Coton has attracted the attention of rare breed enthusiasts.

Gaining in popularity in recent years, the breed has experienced a phenomenal
rise in numbers.  It is our sincere hope that N. American breeders of the Coton continue to
preserve the qualities  the breed is noted for :

As well as becoming better known in the United States, the Coton has taken Europe by storm.
Recognized by the Federation Cynologique Internationale in 1972, the breed has enchanted
the dog loving public in Europe. Many North American Kennels have become established by
importing breeding stock from European Kennels.
