Show or Companion - what is the difference?

A puppy that has "SHOW POTENTIAL" is a puppy that in the breeder's estimation will mature into an adult that will meet the breed standard in all respects.  It goes way beyond the basic requirements of the breed standard, epitomizing the very essence of the breed.  It will have no disqualifying faults and if bred, a " Show Prospect Coton " hopefully will have much to contribute in the way of  favorable genes to the breed.  Since the Coton is relatively new to the United States, it is our sincere hope that all breeders are extremely diligent in their evaluation of "Show Prospects"   who will be the foundation for the Coton de Tulear here in the United States. A puppy who does not meet the stringent requirements of  the "Show Prospect"  will in  no  way  be  an  inferior puppy.

The "Companion" quality Coton de Tulear is every bit as charming, happy and healthy as the "Show Prospect".  It is , in our estimation , a Coton who will not mature to meet the breed  standard in ALL respects.   This does not make the "Companion Quality" Coton any less desirable as a companion. It simply means that perhaps the companion might have a flaw that would prohibit competing in a dog show.

Our Cotons are raised the same whether they are Companions or Show Prospects with careful, loving attention to proper socialization and personality  development.
